Privacy Policy for Z.V.I. AI Application

ZVI LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Z.V.I. mobile application and website at zvi.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use Z.V.I.:
- Email address — either entered by you at sign-up, or provided by Apple or Google if you choose to sign in with them; used for account identification and communication. If you use Sign in with Apple, you may choose Apple’s Hide My Email option, in which case we receive only a private relay address rather than your real one.
- Sign-in identifiers — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique account identifier from that provider so we can recognize you on future logins, and — on your first Apple sign-in only — the name you choose to share. We request only your basic profile and email; we never request your contacts, calendar, or other account data.
- Voice recordings — your spoken input is captured and transmitted to a speech recognition service for conversion into text (see Third-Party Services below). Voice audio is not stored on our servers.
- Conversation transcripts — the text of your conversations with Z.V.I. is stored to provide persistent memory and personalized responses across sessions.
- Usage data — session duration and time balance information for billing purposes.
- Device and technical information — basic details about the device and web browser you use to access Z.V.I. (such as browser type, operating system, and device or screen type). We use this to diagnose problems and provide faster, more accurate technical support when you reach out for help.
- Conversation summaries — AI-generated summaries of your sessions to improve the personalization of future interactions.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalize the Z.V.I. conversational experience.
- To remember context from your previous sessions.
- To track your usage time for billing purposes.
- To generate and deliver voice responses.
- To communicate with you about your account.
Third-Party Services
We use third-party service providers to operate Z.V.I. Except for the fallback speech recognition described below, these providers process data only as necessary to deliver their services and are contractually or by policy prohibited from using this data for their own purposes, including AI model training. Information sent to these providers carries no account identifier — no email address, user ID, or payment information — so it cannot be associated with your account. Our providers fall into the following categories:
- AI processing — the text of the conversation is sent to an AI service provider to generate responses, with no account identifier attached. It is processed via API and is not used to train AI models.
- Voice synthesis — text responses are converted to voice audio by a third-party speech service.
- Memory and retrieval — conversation summaries and embeddings are stored using a vector database service to enable personalized, context-aware responses across sessions.
- Cloud hosting — our backend infrastructure is hosted on a cloud platform provider.
- Payment processing — payments on our website are handled by a PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. Payment processing is not available within the mobile app.
- Speech-to-text (voice transcription) — to convert your spoken words into text, the voice audio is transmitted off your device to a speech recognition service, with no account identifier attached. This is a dedicated transcription provider we have configured so that your audio is not retained — it is used only momentarily to generate the transcript and is not stored by the provider or used to train its models. In the rare case that this provider is unavailable, your web browser's built-in speech recognition is used instead, which processes the audio under your browser provider's own privacy terms that we do not control. In all cases, audio is transmitted securely and is never stored on our own servers.
- Email delivery — transactional emails (verification codes, receipts) are sent through a third-party email service.
- Authentication / sign-in — you may optionally sign in using Apple or Google. When you do, that provider verifies your identity and shares your email (or, with Apple, a private relay address) and a unique account identifier with us, subject to that provider’s own privacy policy. We use this only to create or access your account. You can always sign in with an email code instead if you prefer not to involve a third-party provider.
We do not sell your personal information. The service providers described above process information solely on our behalf to operate the app, under the restrictions described in this section, and not for any purposes of their own.
Conversation Access
Z.V.I. is an app designed to serve as an extension and emissary for Zvi Ish-Shalom. As such, Zvi Ish-Shalom is the only human with access to conversation logs. He may occasionally spot-check conversations for quality-control purposes or access full transcripts or summaries of users' sessions. No other staff, contractors, or third parties have access to the content of your conversations. Subscribers can switch off founder access to their transcripts at any time in their account settings (zvi.app/account); those sessions are then excluded from these review tools.
Research, Teaching, and Publication
Conversations may inform Zvi's ongoing teaching and writing. After your email is removed and personal names are replaced with pseudonyms, anonymized excerpts and themes from sessions may be used to (a) analyze and improve Z.V.I., (b) shape collective transmissions and teachings drawn from patterns across the community, and (c) appear as case studies in books or other writing by Zvi Ish-Shalom. We do not publish your email, real name, or other direct identifiers. Because spiritual conversations often contain personal narrative, anonymization reduces but does not eliminate the chance that someone who knows you well could recognize your story from context — please share with that in mind. Subscribers who would prefer their conversations not be used this way can opt out at any time in their account settings (zvi.app/account), and we will exclude those sessions.
Data Storage and Security
Your conversation data and user summaries are encrypted at industry standards. Authentication tokens are stored in your browser's local storage and used to authenticate your requests with our service. Tokens expire periodically and grant access only to your own account. No passwords are used in this authentication system — whether you sign in with an email code or with Apple or Google, the service is passwordless, and we never create or store a password for you.
Data Retention
We retain your conversation data and summaries for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Withdraw consent for data processing.
Email Communications and Live Events
As a subscriber, you may receive occasional service and account updates — for example, important changes to the service, your subscription, or these policies. Promotional newsletters and marketing messages are opt-in only (for example, via the checkbox at checkout); we do not add you to marketing lists by default. You can unsubscribe from either at any time using the link included in every such email. If you choose to join one of our occasional live video calls or events (for example, over Zoom), your participation — including any recording of the session — is handled under that platform’s own terms. We use a third-party email service to deliver these communications.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
